Using the YardsTech® Stick Reader with Stockbook

This article assumes that you are connecting the YardsTech® Stick Reader to your PC running Stockbook via the YardsTech WiFi hotspot that has been created either via the stick reader or the YardsTech® Scales. Both the Scales and the Reader are in their default setup.

Note that the YardsTech® Stick Reader should be updated to firmware version 2025.01.01 or later. 

Connecting BOTH the YardsTech® Reader and Scales to Stockbook

1. Turn on the YardsTech® Scales.
2. Turn on the YardsTech® Stick Reader. The stick reader should automatically connect to the YardsTech WiFi hotspot setup by the scales.
3. Connect your PC to the "YardsTech" WiFi network. There is no password required.
4. Start Stockbook.
5. Go to Electronic Id. | Setup from the main menu.
6. Select "YardsTech Stick Reader" from the drop down box in the Reader 1 area.
7. Hit the Manual Setup button.
8. Clear out the Name field.
9. Enter 192.168.4.20 into the IP field.
10. Hit the OK button. 
11. Select "YardsTech Scales" from the drop down box in the Scales area.
12. Hit the Manual Setup button.
13. Clear out the Name field.
14. Enter 192.168.4.1 into the IP field.
15. Hit the OK button.
16. Both the Reader and the Scales should now be green.
17. Close the Setup Devices screen.

Using BOTH the YardsTech® Reader and Scales with Stockbook Live Entry

1. Turn on the YardsTech® Scales.
2. Turn on the YardsTech® Stick Reader. The stick reader should automatically connect to the YardsTech WiFi hotspot setup by the scales.
3. Connect your PC to the "YardsTech" WiFi network. There is no password required.
4. Start Stockbook and/or Stockbook Live Entry.

Handy Tip:

If you are using the YardsTech® Stick Reader without the Scales, ignore step 1 above and simply press the stick reader's power button again after you have turned it on (i.e. after step 2). The reader should beep and the blue LED should stay on. Doing so will put the reader into WiFi hotspot mode and allow you to connect your PC to the readers WiFi hotspot network.

Connecting just the YardsTech Reader to Stockbook

1. Turn on the YardsTech® Stick Reader. 
2. After the reader has started, press the reader's power button again. The reader should beep and the blue LED should stay on. Doing so will put the reader into WiFi hotspot mode. 
3. Connect your PC to the "YardsTech" WiFi network. There is no password required.
4. Start Stockbook.
5. Go to Electronic Id. | Setup from the main menu.
6. Select "YardsTech Stick Reader" from the drop down box in the Reader 1 area.
7. Hit the Manual Setup button.
8. Clear out the Name field.
9. Enter 192.168.4.20 into the IP field.
10. Hit the OK button. 
11. The Reader should now be green.
12. Close the Setup Devices screen.

Using just the YardsTech® Reader and Scales with Stockbook Live Entry

1. Turn on the YardsTech® Stick Reader.
2. After the reader has started, press the reader's power button again. The reader should beep and the blue LED should stay on. Doing so will put the reader into WiFi hotspot mode.
3. Connect your PC to the "YardsTech" WiFi network. There is no password required.
4. Start Stockbook and/or Stockbook Live Entry.
